THAI CLAY FLOWER - LOTUS
FOR the last two and a half months practically I have been breathing and speaking clay flowers ,clay flowers only. This clay art actually originated from Europe as salt dough and cold porcelain , then it has gone to Japan and from there it has been passed on by the artisans to Thailand. The Thai people has developed this to greater heights and it is they who have transformed these flowers in to the most amazingly realistic looking flowers. While All those participants have been doing lotus and orchids should I be lagging behind? Here I am doing lotus flower and I can't wait to put these though I am yet to assemble these.

HI FRIENDS"
IT s been so long since I last blogged. This is partly due to my clay flower schedules and mostly because I didn't do any new projects. Now the classes are over I have started my regular classes {read: forced to start , due to the sudden enthusiasm of my sister in law and her friends} so I will put some new posts and projects from now on.

FURY OF NATURE
Its been almost two months since I posted last.Due to several reasons such as functions and my son's board exams plus very importantly my laziness I didnt post as much as I wanted to. But last week's catastrophe in Japan shook me and it came as a jolt to all. I could not take my eyes off to what was being shown in the media and a single question keeps coming to my mind again and again. WHY? why should such calamities occur and why should god punish those innocent and hapless people. Our hearts reach out to them and our prayers for the reconstruction of japan.
My sincere Prayers and wishes for those who survived in the disaster for the return of normalcy of life and peace.

As I write this, the third reactor has also exploded and god only knows as to what would happen if the radiation spreads. This should serve as a warning for developing countries for want of nuclear energy. A country like japan couldnt cope up with this kind of crisis what do we say about our country which is not at all prepared for these kind of situations.

COLD PORCELAIN
Its been a while since my last post. Pongal came and I was very busy with purchases for my brother's wedding, I simply couldn't find time to do anything new. I was rummaging through some of my old works I found two of my oldest works. they are cold porcelain works done long time ago.
Cold porcelain is known as LAMASA in India I don't know the reason why it is called so. I learnt this when I was in Bombay, i.e some fifteen years back. At that time 3D clay works were in vogue like bonsais, murals and clay fountains. Bread dough art was picking up too. And suddenly everywhere lamasa classes mushroomed. And recipes were sold for a fee . {You can sell anything in Bombay}. I also got my recipe like this .Here the tricky thing is how to cook the dough and I am sure whoever gave the recipe wouldn't know because they also did what I did.i.e bought but not learnt. The recipe said mix all the ingredients and cook on a low flame. I have made this dough several times each time something would go wrong. Little bit over cooked the dough became rubbery, or it will be too sticky. After so many attempts my day was made, I got the dough right. I fell in love with CP because of its smoothness and finish. But this is certainly not the same as the one made in argentina or brazil. The thing is the secret lies in the glue which gives elasticity or stretch to the flowers. What we make here using fevicol as glue is good for dolls but certainly not for flowers, you can't do the frilling with this. Anyway, I do love to make dolls and I made several but I had a few photographs only.
I have made this doll using cp , this is my first doll. I have used oil colours to tint the dough, and my son's broken TT racket is used as a base. It is not a great doll or something like that but I cherish the memory because the dough I made is good for the first time. The photo graph is also not that good.

STUDENT'S WORK SWEET PEAS
Today we made arrangement of sweet peas on a small ladder. I have put yet to be finished arrangement here since the person who made wished to take it immediately. We started some mini bonsais too.
WEDDING DECORATION
New year has come and I took flower class after a gap of almost a month. In the mean while, I got to do three more wedding plates for a friend . One is a saree tray in which the colour combination should complement saree colour which is yellow. Hence red and gold back drop. Another tray is an octagonal tray with ring box.
